Your Holiday Sanity Check

Let’s be realz:

the holidays can turn even the calmest, most spiritually evolved leader into a frantic event planner with a Pinterest-induced identity crisis.

One minute you’re lighting a candle with intention …

... the next minute you’re elbows-deep in artisanal gluten-free stuffing because your cousin Karen hosted last weekend and both her menu and her tablescape “belonged in a magazine.”

And it’s not just entertaining.

Gift-giving becomes a competitive sport. Suddenly you’re trying to “out-thoughtful” everyone, curating presents that must also be surprising, meaningful, ethically sourced, beautifully wrapped, and of course, Instagrammable.

Here’s the thing: all of this over-everything is just the Ego in a sparkly sweater.

Your Ego wants the praise, the perfection, the proof that you are nailing life. But in the chase to keep up with the last “amazing host,” or the last “incredible over-the-top-gift-giving legend,” you forget the actual point of the season.

Uh … that would be connection, presence, warmth, joy … your Divinity. Not hand-foraged rosemary sprigs tied with twine [unless it’s a family tradition ;)], or a surprise weekend getaway you can’t actually afford.

A Heart-lit holiday doesn’t mean giving up beauty or intentional acts of merriment. It means dropping the performance. It’s allowing “good enough” to be more than enough.

It’s asking:

Because that question dismantles the Ego faster than you can say “monogrammed place cards.”

Try this fresh approach:

• Instead of obsessing about how impressive your home looks, focus on how open your energy feels.
• Instead of planning the perfect gift, plan a real moment ... a moment where everyone pauses, breathes, sets their devices aside, and actually feels something true.

A few weeks ago we put up our holidays lights … a little glow for us and our neighbors. I go out every night, yes every night, and let that soft light remind me to be a better light.

Do our lights win any prizes? Nope. Two very Griswold-esque families down the street have that title locked in. And that’s perfect. Our lights are simple, sincere, and enough.
